 Safety measures in buying a house in Spain

Safety measures in buying a house in SpainSpain has always been a delight to British travelers like us. Spain’s coasts are full of British people that one could easily forget that we are in Spain. And most Brits (referring to British people) who visited Spain go back and settle down if not build a business. Most of British dream in owning a house in Spain. Yet, we are daunted with so many things to do in buying a house in a foreign country because of ignorance of the process and law in owning a house in a foreign land like Spain. In fact, there so many consideration to make like the currencies, lawyers to hire, estate agents, deeds, loans, mortgages, finances, contracts and so many other. Sometimes our dream of buying a house in Spain ended up in financial and legal dire straits. Sometimes it is helpful to take some safety measures such as;

• The pros and cons of buying the house - Consider the pros and cons of buying a house and moving to Spain. Most of us wanted space from stress, traffic jam and second-rate food and cold bitter winter of our place. So, the sun-laced country of Spain is the answer. Just to find out that we couldn’t handle the heat on the place even though it is one of the biggest factors why we transferred to Spain. Most of the immigrants can’t handle homesickness. Remember that the buying of the house itself cost money.

• Be aware of the legal system - We should also bear in mind that the legal system in our country is entirely different from Spain. We might be tempted to sign an innocent looking paper registering our interest in a house we wanted to buy and commit ourselves in buying a property we could not afford. And better check it at the Registro de Propiedad if the property you are buying has no irregularities.

• Hire good bilingual lawyers - It is really advisable to hire an independent lawyer in buying a house. Even though some completed to buy a house without the help of a lawyer still some lost their life’s saving because did not do so. Sometimes, people commit the mistake of signing a contract in a foreign language that they don’t understand. That is why you hire a bilingual lawyer for him to translate the contract into a language you understand and to act as a translator. Don’t forget to get both the Spanish contract and the translation of such contract and have it thoroughly checked because sometimes the translation is not that good.

• Foreign Currencies - We also have to understand that sharp movement of currency in the market means changes in the price of the property. If the change in the euro value is high then it means that you pay a higher price on the house that you are planning to buy. So, this factor should be considered in buying. So it is better to seek the advice of a lawyer in Spain before buying any property.

• Language and jobs - In transferring to Spain we should also consider that the jobs here are also connected with your ability to speak their local language. Even though the influx of immigrants is raging Spain’s cities still the local people are loyal to their own language. Then maybe it is time to learn the Spanish language to enjoy the place more.

Most of the people who bought a house and live successfully in Spain enjoys the country’s delicious, cheap food and good wine, year round outdoor lifestyle and non-stop fiestas. Those people got to bask in Spain’s splendor and unique and endearing culture and lifestyle.
